There isn’t anything else that is necessary to make the server simply run at this point, and therefore you can use the same command again to start the server and play. I would recommend turning down the view distance, and max number of players allowed, at the least (since a Raspberry Pi isn’t too powerful, respectively). Nothing here needs to be changed, but can be to suit your liking. We can now also take the opportunity to edit the server properties file. ![]() Press Ctrl + X, then Y, followed by Enter to exit and save changes. sudo nano eula.txtīy changing the below value from false to true, you agree to the EULA. We simply need to open the specified file and edit its value. The server will fail to start until we do so. We are now prompted to agree to the Minecraft End-User License Agreement before we proceed any further. To start, we need to run the server for its initial instance. Move the compiled Spigot server file from the “buildtools” sub-directory to the parent “minecraft” server directory. BuildTools does allow you to compile older versions on Minecraft, as well as, different flavors other than Spigot. You can find out more about BuildTools and it’s various arguments on the Official Spigot Wiki. BuildTools also requires a minimum of 512mb of RAM, and will tell you as much, if it is not available. This may take some time, as it is mostly dependent on CPU power. We now need to compile Spigot using the downloaded version of BuildTools, as shown below. cd buildtoolsĭownload the latest BuildTools from the Official Spigot site. Move to the new “buildtools” sub-directory. This is an important step, as compiling Spigot generates a lot of files and sub-directories and this keeps them separate from the active Minecraft server files. Please note that Spigot releases may lag a few days behind the official Vanilla server releases, as it is a third-party release.įirst, we’ll make a new sub-directory to download to and compile within. If you choose to download a copy of the latest Spigot Minecraft, there will be a few more steps we will have to go through to get things up and running, but it will be worth it for the optimizations Spigot brings.
